Condition Rating Scale

RATINGDESCRIPTION
10The club is new, has not hit a ball at any time. May still be in shrink wrap. Comes with head cover (as appropriate).
9.5The club may be ex-shop display and show some marks from handling, transport or display racks but is otherwise "as new". There are no signs of the club having been used on course or to hit balls in an inside driving area. We would describe this club as "Mint".
9The club is nearly new with only very minor signs that it has hit a ball. It has no marks on the lacquer surface (of a wood or hybrid) from new and only very minor cosmetic ball marks on the face or very fine swing marks on the sole. The club will come with the "as new" head cover where appropriate.
8This club has had regular use over perhaps 6 months but has been cared for from new. There will be no chips or scratches on the upper surface of the club head and only normal ball impact marks and swing marks on the metal surfaces of the head. It should come with the original head cover (for a wood) in near new condition.
7This club has had regular use and shows cosmetic signs of wear on all surfaces of the club. It may have minor marking of the lacquer surface of the head but there will be no dents or signs of impact with rocks, or concrete scrapes. It should not have sky marks. The club would typically have 2 or 3 seasons' wear. It may not have a head cover.
6This club has had regular use over a number of seasons. It will show significant cosmetic marking on all surfaces including significant ball impact marks on the face and the original polished metal surface of the sole will be dulled by the swing marks. It may show minor sky marks. It will rarely have a head cover and the original grip may be due for replacement.
Less than 6Unless this club is of a top quality brand, with some potential for restoration, it will have little value.
We will not usually list clubs on Torny's Golf List with condition ratings of less than 6
